비교급 최상급 정리
오늘은 토익에서 자주 출제되는 비교급과 최상급 그리고 관용적인 표현들에 대해서 공부하고자 합니다. 그럼 첫번째 원급부터 시작해 볼까요.
1. 원급
1. as 형용사/부사 원급 as: ‘~만큼 –한’
Vicki is as efficient as Tina when it comes to word processing.
Helen comes to visit me as often as she can.

2. as many/few/much/little + 명사 as
We should collect as much information as possible to make an effective decision.
3. 부정: not as ~ as / not so ~ as
It is not so (as) simple as it looks.
4. the same (+명사) as: ~과 같은
The profits in 2010 are the same as those in 2011.
5. 원급 강조 부사 : nearly(거의), just(꼭), almost(거의)
The presentation and display of the food was just as important as the taste.

1. 형용사/부사 비교급 + than
The prices in this store are much more reasonable than neighboring stores.

more/fewer/less+명사+than: ‘~보다 많은/적은’
less+형용사/부사+than: ‘~보다 덜-한’
A. the+비교급, the+비교급
The more popular the new food processor, the better it is for our company.
B. the 비교급 + of the two
Of the two interviewees, I believe Mr. Chandler is the better qualified for the job.
2. 비교급 강조 부사: much, far, even, still, a lot (훨씬)
Retaining loyal customers is much more important than trying continuously to attract new customers.
3. 최상급
1. 최상급 + of/in/that: ‘가장 ~한 중 최고’
A recent study showed that gardening is the most popular activity among the over 50s.
2. 형용사 최상급은 the / 소유격과 함께
I had the(=my) best performance in sales this year.
3. 최상급 강조 부사: by far, ever, much, even
Child benefit has been increased significantly; there was the greatest ever increase of 25 percent.

1. the 서수 + 최상급
New York is still the second largest port in USA.
2. at least 적어도
Our solar system has at least nine planets and about hundreds of moons.
3. at the earliest 빨라야 / at the latest 늦어도
Please let us know if you will attend the conference by March 26th at the latest.
4. more than ~이상 / less than ~이하
There are more than 100 million Harry Potter books in print worldwide.
5. no longer 더 이상 ~가 아니다
We can no longer rely on the tax revenue from the government.
6. one of the 최상급 + 복수 명사: 가장 ~한 것 중 하나
Soccer is one of the most popular sports in Korea.
